Dear distinguished guests and scholars:
It is our great honour to welcome you all to Language Teaching and Learning Today 2019 at
Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE). As you should have
known, HCMUTE is one of the most renowned and dynamic universities for training and
research in Vietnam. We have eleven programs assessed by AUN-QA and the institution
accredited at the national level. The university is doing her best to offer high-quality training
services to the local community and foster innovations for faster development.
Along with the striving process of bringing breakthroughs to the training services at the
university, the LTLT conference series has proudly been initiated by the Faculty of Foreign
Languages. The conference is an invaluable opportunity for us to exchange s on
effective practices, ideas for language teaching methods, and a new agenda for research.
This year, LTLT 2019 seeks to understand the conceptualisation and practices of learner
autonomy and motivation for language learning in the interconnected world. The event is a
forum for both local insights and international perspectives to be shared and analysed for
better understandings and more effective practices of the field. Learner autonomy can enable
students to control their learning processes for better learning quality, and motivation can
remarkably empower students learning processes. This conference is, therefore, expected to
make new contributions to the dynamic learning context with the constant support of new
technology from both theoretical and practical perspectives.
